Apache is an active member of the local and West Australia community through its extensive business and staff commitments and activities.
At a project level, it focuses on supporting sustainable development of communities in which it operates. Some of the community support program in which it is involved along the northern coastline of Western Australia include:
As an Exmouth Aviation Consortium member, Apache Energy has helped provide the first fire engine at Exmouth airport. The fire engine is available for all operations and flights at the airport and is an exciting new asset that significantly enhances safety. Previously, the airport had to rely on a fire engine coming out from the town 45 kms away.
Sea Rescue BoatIn 2007, Apache proudly provided financial support to the Exmouth Volunteer Marine Sea Rescue Group for the purchase of its new rescue vessel, the 'Ningaloo Endeavour'. The vessel is a critical community asset in an area world famous for its commercial and tourist marine activities.
Apache Energy sponsors the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA’s) Schools Information Program, a Science based competition for Year 10 students focusing on the oil and gas industry. The competition is research-centred and designed to maximise student and teacher interaction with employees in various sectors of the industry.
Apache Energy is currently sponsoring a new course at the Exmouth District High School to teach the local children marine craft skills that can prepare them for employment in the local marine industries.
Apache Energy is supporting the Australian Institute of Marine Science’s (AIMS) research to identify the migratory cycle of Ningaloo whale sharks and assess the status of the whale shark population. This research will relate observations of whale sharks to ocean dynamics to help explain movement patterns and develop a program of international research.
Scientific and Environmental ROV Partnership (SERPENT) ProjectApache is involved in the Scientific and Environmental ROV Partnership (SERPENT) where scientists from the University of Sydney and other institutions use its Remote Operating Vehicles (ROV) to run scientific programs to explore for life in the deep ocean.
In addition, Apache supports more than 30 different charities and staff donate their time and skill on a volunteer basis to programs ranging from cyclone response to helping stranded dolphins.
