Apache Energy strives to provide a safe and healthy workplace and carry out its activities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. It recognises safety and the environment as core values associated with efficient implementation of all exploration, production and project related activities.

Safety management is governed by Apache’s Safety Management System (SMS) which comprises 15 elements. These elements detail the policy, responsibilities, procedures, and tools that are integral with how we do our business. The SMS requires that Apache employs recognise risk management practices to reduce the risk of injury or harm to health to as low as is practical.

Apache develops safety cases for all its facilities. A safety case for construction, installation and operations is a requirement of the Safety Management System and exceeds the regulatory requirements in some jurisdictional areas. A safety case describes the facility, the safety management system and the processes employed to ensure the facility is designed and operated with risks to personnel and equipment as low as practical

We recognise at Apache that getting the job done is important, but doing it in a safe and environmentally responsible manner is an essential element of doing a good job.

Apache operates across multiple jurisdictions with regard to the regulation of safety including; Commonwealth and State waters, islands and mainland operations. The offshore regulatory regime is principally driven by the Management and Safety of Offshore Facilities Regulations and is referred to as the “Safety Case” regime.

Apache has made Safety Case submissions for the Varanus Hub Facilities, the Stag Production Facility, the Ocean Legend Mobil Offshore Production Unit, and the Van Gogh FPSO development. Safety case submissions are currently being developed for Apache’s Devil Creek Development Project.
