Apache Yvonne Trejo, senior reservoir engineer, in Houston was recently featured in the Fall 2017 issue of the Minority Engineer magazine.

"I was honored and excited to share about my day-to-day responsibilities and my career," she said. "Hopefully it will inspire others to join this amazing industry we work in."

Trejo was recognized, along with five other professionals working in the energy industry, for bringing a bright outlook to a noble cause. "Without energy, we would lack electricity, transportation and so many other products that are critical in our day-to-day lives," Trejo said in the article. "By working in the energy industry, you can make a difference in our world every single day."

"Yvonne's enthusiasm always shines through in the way she interacts with her teammates here in the Houston Lower 48 Region," said John Tugwell, reservoir engineer manager. "She is also a respected mentor to many of the young professionals at Apache."

Trejo's interest in engineering and the oil and gas field was fueled by her passion for math and science. She graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. After spending time working in a variety of production and reservoir engineering capacities at Marathon Oil Company, she joined Apache in 2015 as a reservoir engineer.

Since joining the company, Trejo has been a recipient of an Apache Improvement Method through Understanding Performance (AIM UP) award in 2015. AIM UP recognizes employees for innovative ideas that help Apache create better processes, improve efficiencies and save money. She also completed Apache's Southern Methodist University Executive Leadership Program. Currently, Trejo is part of the Apache Women's Network steering committee in which she serves as an education co-chair, and she volunteers with the Ronald McDonald House.
