Apache donated more than 145,000 trees throughout Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma for the 2014-2015 planting season. Among the Texas organizations receiving trees was the city of Houston’s Parks and Recreation Urban Forestry Division to restore park arbor life.

“The totality of Apache’s gift will make a difference to the entire region,” said Houston Mayor Annise Parker. “The trees will be a living monument to the foundation’s generosity and concern for the community.”

Apache has partnered with the Houston Parks and Recreation Department in planting nearly 100,000 trees to date.

“Apache takes pride in joining with organizations across Texas that share in our commitment to the environment through the planting of trees,” Vice President of Governmental Affairs Obie O’Brien said. “Spreading the word on the benefits of planting and caring for trees is vital to the preservation and enhancement of the communities in which we live, work and raise our families.”

In an ongoing effort to keep the environment green, Apache donated 1,000 trees for Terrebonne Parish’s annual tree giveaway in Houma, La. To date, the company has helped plant nearly 10,300 trees throughout the city.

On Memorial Day, Apache was recognized by the city of Moore, Okla. for donating five large nuttall oaks trees for planting in Veterans Memorial Park. The trees represent each branch of the Armed Forces.

“The tornado of May 13, 2013 devastated much of Veterans Park, including our beautiful trees, so the city of Moore thanks Apache for their support and gracious donation to replace five of those trees,” Assistance City Manager Todd Jenson said. “We call those trees our Trees of Honor because they were planted near our newly constructed Veterans Wall of Honor. The trees are a great addition to an area of the park where we honor those who have or are currently serving our country in the U.S. military.”

Since 2005, Apache has distributed nearly 4 million trees to nonprofit organizations in 17 U.S. states to help improve wildlife habitats, restore storm damage, and enhance cities and neighborhoods in areas where the company operates. The trees go to nonprofit organizations including cities, counties, schools, parks, universities, youth associations, wildlife refuges and community groups.

Grant applications for the 2015-2016 planting season are being accepted through Aug. 7. For more information, please visit www.ApacheLovesTrees.com. Apache Corporation is an oil and gas exploration and production company with operations in the United States, Canada, Egypt and the United Kingdom.
