The summaries below are only a brief outline of the current programs available to U.S. employees. Compensation and benefit plans outside the U.S. may differ according to local customs and competitive practices.
Apache believes in paying for performance, and this philosophy is embodied in our competitive base salaries and generous incentive plans. Growth in base pay will reflect the individual’s performance and growth in their contribution to the success of the company. In addition, variable incentives are offered to reward both individual and corporate achievement.
Because employees drive the success of the company, Apache believes they should share in that success, and is an industry-leader in extending equity awards to all regular, full-time employees. Equity is typically awarded annually, with the amount of the award determined by level in the company and performance.
Apache's retirement and 401(k) savings plans (defined contribution plans) provide income for your retirement and give you the opportunity to save regularly and build long-term financial security. Apache will contribute 6 percent of your annual salary, overtime and annual bonus to your retirement plan each year, and the company will match your contributions to your 401(k) dollar for dollar up to a maximum of 8 percent of annual earnings.
Medical coverage — Apache provides multiple medical solutions for employees, depending on their work location. Employees have the choice of the preferred provider organization (PPO), passive PPO, basic PPO or international plans.
Prescription drug coverage — By participating in any of Apache's medical plans, you also receive the retail and mail-order prescription drugs benefits.
Dental coverage — A traditional dental plan is offered. You may select the dentist of your choice.
Vision coverage — Apache provides a managed care vision plan that offers in-network and out-of-network benefits. All employees receive one, free eye exam per year.
Flexible spending accounts — Apache offers both health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts that allow employees to set aside up to $5,000 on a tax-free basis, up to $2,500 to pay for health-related and up to $5,000 to pay for dependent-care expenses.
Retiree medical — A retiree medical plan is available for Apache’s early retirees and their eligible dependents. Initial eligibility commences at age 55 for employees with at least five years of continuous service. Eligibility ends at age 65, or the Medicare eligibility date, if later.
Life insurance — Basic life insurance of two times annual base salary is provided at no cost to the employee. Supplemental life insurance can be purchased for employees, their spouse and their children.
Basic accidental death and dismemberment insurance equal to two times annual base salary is provided at no cost to the employees. Voluntary accidental death and dismemberment insurance also is available for employees and their dependents.
Disability — The short-term disability plan provides full salary continuation for up to 180 days for employees absent from work due to an illness or injury. The long-term disability plan provides up to 60 percent of regular base salary for employees disabled beyond the short-term disability coverage period.
Long-term care insurance — Apache provides long-term care insurance for employees and their families. Care could be provided in the employee's home or in an assisted living or residential care facility.
Alternative work schedule — A compressed work week is available at the Houston and Tulsa offices: nine-hour days, Monday through Thursday, and four hours on Friday.
Flextime is available to accommodate child care, educational or medical needs whenever possible. The extent of the flextime offering may vary from group to group, depending on operating needs.
Time off — All employees receive at least three weeks of annual vacation The length of paid vacation for which employees are eligible for depends on their recognized service. Apache provides 10 paid holidays each year, and 48 hours of paid sick leave.
